Symptoms of TMD

At Dr. Wenrick’s office, we see patients of various ages that are experiencing TMD-related symptoms. Due to the complexity of TMD, patients may experience only one of these symptoms or a mixture.

Signs and Symptoms include:

  • Jaw pain and stiffness
  • Limited ability to open or close mouth
  • Popping, clicking, crunching, or grinding noises with movement of the jaw
  • Abnormal facial pain or pressure
  • Jaw fatigue
  • Jaw locking
  • Swelling around the jaw joint
  • Change in bite
  • Cracked teeth or damaged dental work

Symptoms that manifest elsewhere, but can be related to TMD:

  • Headaches and/or migraines
  • Earaches or ear stuffiness
  • Tinnitus, i.e. ringing in the ear
  • Neck pain and/or stiffness

The important thing to remember is that TMD is a progressive disorder and can cause chronic and intermittent symptoms. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, contact our office.
