Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions that we receive from potential and new patients.
What can I expect at the first appointment?
A series of examinations will be done in detail starting with a history of symptoms from each patient. Your first appointment will consist of a head, jaw, and neck muscle palpation exam, range of motion exam, and an ultrasound.
MRI studies and CT Scans will be ordered to further aid in the definitive diagnosis and treatment plan. Bypassing any of these steps will result in failed attempts for proper therapeutic relief. In our practice, we rely on the knowledge, consistency, and the best diagnostic resources available to achieve maximum medical improvement. We strive to prevent further TMJ destruction by practicing with a “Gold” Standard of Care.
What insurance do you take?
We are a fee for service practice, meaning patients pay upfront for services at our office. However, we do assist you with filing a claim for possible reimbursement. Please visit our Insurance Information page to read how you can file your own claim to your health plan.
Does TMD require surgery?
Surgery is not necessarily a first-line treatment. The standard of care for TMJ therapy is proper structural alignment while aiding in the relief of painful symptoms. Before surgery, Dr. Wenrick recommends conservative orthopedic TMJ realignment.
Do you see children?
Yes, if your child is experiencing symptoms related to TMD or a Sleep Breathing Disorder Dr. Wenrick will see them for an evaluation, with a recommendation from their physician.
